Harley-Davidson Heritage Soft Tail

When first approached by the customer our artist discussed the ideas for the Harley Davidson Heritage Soft Tail paint scheme.

The customer wanted to have an individual paint scheme that focused on wax, he was not sure why, he just wanted wax. The idea of a candle burning on the front fender came from a couple of hours of chatting and rough drawings.

The original concept was a bike of wax with a little flame thrown in to assist the wax in its movement. The initial thought of our artist was "Is he mad?" a comment that the customer states his friends have asked him on several occasions whilst discussing his initial ideas.

On reflection the customer and we at Themecolour believe the idea not only works, but is definitely one of a kind and looks absolutely stunning.

Front fender has the candle wax airbrushed over a black base coat.

The base colour for the fire is added and shaped to give the fire depth.

The yellow layers are added to the flames to give the fire its 'heat'.

After several coats of clear lacquer and polishing the final effect looks stunningly real.

The wax was airbrushed over a black base coat all over the fuel tank.

img

The wax was then 'sharpened up and the movement and depth was airbrushed.

The fire was airbrushed to give the impression that the flames were moving along the tank

The yellow was applied to give the fire its life and the wax was titivated.
