Yamaha XJR 1300

Our artist was asked if he could repair this crash damaged Yamaha XJR 1300.

The owner had a decal on the tank that had been affected by the crash but was keen to keep it. After seeing the artwork on the buell on this web site the owner requested the decal be replaced with a similar 'funked up' airbrush design.

The tank, tail section and front fender arrived in a pre-painted state. All parts required repairs and filling prior to priming. This achieved a good base to start the paintwork from. The bike had several dents and scratches including damage to the decal.

The Yamaha decals and the silver and black decals were masked out with tape so as not to damage them during the paint process.

Once the tank had been refilled, shaped and primed the base coat white was applied. Followed by a base coat yellow and finally a yellow pearl was added, replacing the old paint work. The black was then added and the decals were touched in.

The belly pan was a complete paint redesign to the customers instructions.

The tank design was our artists impression of the owners requirement and a little silver was added to the tribal design to tie in the whole paint scheme.

Several coats of lacquer were applied for a diamond finish.
